Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation
MPGCARE coordinates specialist assessment at suitable Medical Park and Liv Hospital partner centers in Türkiye. The receiving hospital, clinician and available services are confirmed individually. A clinical examination and review of previous records guide the plan; photographs or a remote inquiry do not establish a diagnosis or guarantee a procedure.
Physical medicine and rehabilitation assessment considers pain, movement, strength, balance and daily activities. A rehabilitation physician and relevant therapists plan care according to diagnosis and goals. Physiotherapy is not a fixed series of machine sessions; active participation, appropriate exercise and continuity of care are central.
Conditions and rehabilitation needs assessed
The examples below describe possible assessment pathways. The clinician chooses investigations and care according to findings, alternatives, medical history and informed consent.
| Condition or concern | Assessment and treatment options | Planning and follow-up |
|---|---|---|
| Low back pain and sciatica | Neurological and movement assessment; individualized activity and exercise. | Imaging only when indicated; urgent red flags are excluded. |
| Neck pain and selected cervical nerve symptoms | Posture, mobility and nerve examination; appropriate exercise/education. | New weakness or progressive symptoms require medical review. |
| Osteoarthritis and joint stiffness | Pain, range, strength and function; activity, loading and rehabilitation. | Support function without promising cartilage regeneration. |
| Shoulder problems and frozen shoulder | Identify source and stage; graded mobility/strength work. | Coordinate selected medical or surgical options when needed. |
| Tendon disorders and sports injuries | Injury assessment and progressive loading. | Return to sport follows criteria, not a guaranteed date. |
| After fracture or orthopedic surgery | Review operation, healing and surgeon restrictions. | Weight-bearing and movement limits guide progression. |
| Joint replacement rehabilitation | Gait, strength and daily tasks with postoperative precautions. | Plan safe discharge and continued home care. |
| Stroke rehabilitation | Multidisciplinary movement, balance and daily-living assessment. | Speech/swallowing and cognitive support may require other professionals. |
| Spinal cord injury | Function, skin, mobility, seating and assistive needs. | Specialist team and bowel/bladder care when appropriate. |
| Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis | Walking, balance, fatigue and activity assessment. | Individual exercise and energy management, with neurological care. |
| Peripheral nerve injury and weakness | Review cause and selected testing; function-oriented treatment. | Recovery varies with nerve condition and underlying disease. |
| Balance problems and falls | Review strength, gait, vision/vestibular and medical contributors. | Fall prevention and suitable assistive devices. |
| Cerebral palsy and pediatric rehabilitation | Age-appropriate development, movement and family goals. | Child-specific team, orthoses and long-term support as indicated. |
| Chronic widespread pain and fibromyalgia | Assess pain, sleep, function and other causes. | Graded activity, education and appropriate multidisciplinary support. |
| Lymphedema | Assess swelling cause, skin and suitability for decongestive care. | Compression and exercises are individualized; not every swollen limb is lymphedema. |
| Pelvic floor dysfunction | Selected specialist evaluation of urinary/bowel symptoms and pelvic pain. | Consent-based care; not all symptoms require strengthening exercises. |
| Deconditioning after serious illness | Assess cardiopulmonary stability, fatigue and everyday function. | Graded recovery and nutrition/medical collaboration. |
| Amputation rehabilitation | Residual limb, mobility and prosthetic assessment. | Skin protection, gait training and appropriate prosthetic follow-up. |
Assessment and measurable goals
The team reviews diagnosis, previous scans, surgery, medicines and restrictions, then evaluates movement, strength, sensation, balance and daily tasks. Goals may include safer walking, dressing, pain management or return to work. Baseline measures and review dates help judge progress. Not every patient needs MRI or a device-based treatment; examination and the question that a test can answer guide decisions.
Exercise, education and manual methods
Exercises may target mobility, strength, endurance, balance or a particular functional task. Frequency and progression are adapted to tolerance and medical status. Manual techniques may be an adjunct for selected conditions, usually within an active program. Heat, electrical or other physical modalities are not automatically appropriate for every diagnosis and should not replace meaningful activity or self-management.
Musculoskeletal and postoperative rehabilitation
Healing stage, fracture stability, tendon repair and the surgeon’s protocol govern loading and movement. Bring the operative note and restrictions. Treatment progresses from safe movement to strength and function, with changes if pain, swelling or other findings warrant review. A rehabilitation program cannot correct every structural problem; new complications may require orthopedic or neurological assessment.
Neurological rehabilitation and daily life
Stroke, spinal cord and other neurological conditions can require physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech/swallowing support and nursing alongside medical care. Walking, transfers, hand use, communication and safe home arrangements are assessed individually. Spasticity care or orthoses may be considered; injections or advanced services require separate specialist suitability and availability confirmation. Recovery is variable and independent walking is not guaranteed.
Children, pelvic health and lymphedema
These areas require relevant expertise rather than a general package. Pediatric programs involve growth, family goals and play-based practice. Pelvic evaluation and any intimate examination require explanation, consent and appropriate privacy; exercises depend on whether muscles need relaxation, coordination or strengthening. Swelling needs diagnosis before compression or massage; sudden painful swelling may indicate another urgent condition.
How many sessions, and what happens at home?
The diagnosis, severity, endurance and goals determine frequency and duration; no universal ten-session course fits everyone. Supervised treatment is paired with a written home program, precautions and a progress review. Equipment, stairs, caregiver support and accessibility should be considered. International patients need a plan for continued local therapy; a short visit may start care but cannot substitute for prolonged rehabilitation when required.
Safety, pain and urgent warning signs
Tell the team about osteoporosis, cancer, infection, pregnancy, implanted devices and heart/lung problems. New loss of bladder/bowel control with back symptoms, saddle numbness, sudden weakness, chest pain, severe breathlessness or a hot swollen limb needs urgent local evaluation. Stop the session and tell the clinician about unexpected worsening; forceful exercise through new neurological symptoms is not appropriate.
Travel, accessibility and treatment review
Confirm safe sitting, transfers, wheelchair needs, fatigue limits and whether medical transport is required. Ordinary transfer arrangements do not replace an ambulance or monitored transport for an unstable patient. The written rehabilitation plan should specify the responsible clinician, therapists, goals, sessions, home exercise and follow-up. Changes are based on function and safety, not a guaranteed treatment completion date.
Preparing records, appointments and a written plan
Share current symptoms, their timeline, existing reports, a medicine list, allergies and relevant previous treatment. The specialist determines which tests and appointments are needed. Ask for a written scope distinguishing consultation, investigations, procedures, medicines and follow-up, with report timing and arrangements for complications. No universal duration or guaranteed outcome applies to every patient.
MPGCARE travel coordination and continuity of care
MPGCARE helps organize records, appointments and communication with the confirmed Medical Park or Liv Hospital partner center. Free Sarp–Trabzon transfer and airport–hospital transfer for patients arriving by air are arranged after confirming route, timing and accompanying persons. Medical fitness to travel, accommodation, extra visits and local follow-up must be clarified before departure.
