Changes in mood, persistent worry or difficulty coping can affect sleep, relationships and everyday life. Clinical psychology begins with understanding these experiences in their personal context. MPGCARE helps international patients coordinate an appointment in Türkiye and clarify the consultation language before travel. The psychologist assesses needs and discusses suitable support; a message or questionnaire alone does not establish a diagnosis.

When may an assessment help?

An assessment may be useful for ongoing anxiety, panic symptoms, low mood, stress, adjustment difficulties, grief or coping with a medical condition. These experiences do not all require the same treatment. Sudden changes, severe symptoms or possible physical causes may also require a medical or psychiatric evaluation.

What happens in the first consultation?

The clinician asks about your main concerns, their duration, daily functioning, sleep, previous support, medicines and goals. You can discuss what you feel ready to share and ask how information will be used. Questionnaires or psychological tests are selected only when clinically appropriate; they support, rather than replace, the interview.

Psychotherapy and an individual plan

Depending on assessment and the clinician’s training, care may include psychological education, coping strategies or a structured therapy such as cognitive behavioural therapy. Goals are agreed together and progress is reviewed. The approach, session frequency and expected review points are individualized; a fixed number of sessions cannot guarantee recovery.

Psychology, psychiatry and medication

Psychological therapy and psychiatric care have different roles and may be combined. A clinical psychologist does not prescribe medication in Türkiye. If medication review, diagnostic clarification or a higher level of support is needed, consultation with a psychiatrist or another physician can be arranged. Do not change prescribed medicines without the prescriber’s advice.

Language, privacy and international follow-up

Tell us your preferred language and whether you need interpretation. Direct communication with a suitably qualified professional is particularly important in therapy; interpreter availability and confidentiality arrangements must be confirmed. Ask about consent, record handling and the limits of confidentiality. Online sessions, age groups accepted and continuation after returning home depend on professional and local requirements.

Preparing for your appointment

Send a brief description of your concern, your age, preferred language and available dates. Share previous assessments or medication information only through the agreed channel when requested. Clarify the clinician, appointment length, fees and follow-up arrangements before booking travel. MPGCARE coordinates appointments and communication; clinical decisions belong to the treating professional.

Do I need a diagnosis first? No. A consultation can help clarify your needs.
Can one visit complete therapy? An initial visit may guide the next steps, but ongoing difficulties often need follow-up.
Is this an emergency service? No. If there is immediate danger, severe confusion or an acute mental health crisis, seek urgent local medical care without waiting for an overseas appointment.
