Advanced Cancer Treatment in Turkey: A Complete Guide for Georgian Patients
A practical guide to advanced cancer treatment in Turkey, specialist selection and coordinated care...
A cancer diagnosis deserves a clear explanation and an individual plan. MPGCARE coordinates record review, appointments and communication with Medical Park and Liv Hospital in Türkiye. The receiving center confirms the hospital, responsible specialist, accepted cancer types, age limits and available services for your case. Medical decisions belong to the treating physicians. A listed treatment is not proof that every hospital offers it.
This page focuses on adult oncology. Children require a pediatric oncology team; leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma require hematology coordination. Symptoms may have noncancerous causes. Consultation, diagnostic tests and treatment are separate steps; PET-CT, biopsy or molecular panels are not a compulsory package for everyone.
| Cancer type | Signs to report | Tests the physician may select |
|---|---|---|
| Breast cancer | New lump, nipple or skin change; report prior images. | Diagnostic mammography/ultrasound, biopsy and ER/PR/HER2 results; further imaging by stage. |
| Lung cancer | Persistent cough, breathlessness or blood in sputum. | Chest CT, bronchoscopic or image-guided biopsy; subtype, selected molecular/PD-L1 tests and staging. |
| Colon and rectal cancer | Blood in stool, bowel changes or unexplained anemia. | Colonoscopy/biopsy, selected staging CT; pelvic MRI for rectal cancer and relevant tumor biomarkers. |
| Stomach cancer | Persistent upper abdominal symptoms, weight loss or black stool. | Endoscopy/biopsy, selected CT and tumor biomarker testing to guide options. |
| Pancreatic cancer | Jaundice, persistent abdominal/back pain or unexplained weight loss. | Pancreatic CT/MRI, selected endoscopic ultrasound/tissue sampling; blood tests interpreted with imaging. |
| Liver cancer | Liver disease history, abdominal symptoms or jaundice. | Liver-function tests and contrast CT/MRI; biopsy in selected cases, not always required. |
| Prostate cancer | Urinary changes or an abnormal prior PSA; sometimes no symptoms. | PSA interpreted clinically, prostate MRI and indicated biopsy; grade and stage review. |
| Bladder cancer | Visible blood in urine or persistent urinary symptoms. | Urine tests, cystoscopy and tissue sampling; selected imaging and depth-of-invasion review. |
| Kidney cancer | Blood in urine, persistent flank pain or incidental mass. | Renal-function tests and CT/MRI; tissue sampling when it will inform management. |
| Ovarian cancer | Persistent bloating, early fullness or pelvic symptoms. | Pelvic ultrasound/selected CT, tissue assessment and contextual CA-125; molecular testing when relevant. |
| Cervical cancer | Unusual vaginal or postcoital bleeding. | Gynecologic examination, colposcopy/biopsy and selected staging imaging; screening tests alone do not establish cancer. |
| Endometrial cancer | Postmenopausal or abnormal uterine bleeding. | Gynecologic assessment, ultrasound and endometrial sampling; staging and selected tumor tests. |
| Melanoma | Changing mole or new irregular skin lesion. | Skin examination and biopsy; further imaging and biomarker tests by stage and treatment question. |
| Soft tissue sarcoma | Growing soft tissue mass or persistent local pain. | Site-specific imaging and specialist-planned biopsy; pathology review before definitive surgery. |
| Cancer type | Signs to report | Tests the physician may select |
|---|---|---|
| Leukemia | Unexplained bruising, infections or fatigue. | Blood count/smear; indicated marrow, flow cytometry and genetic tests under hematology. |
| Lymphoma | Persistent enlarged nodes, night sweats or weight loss. | Suitable tissue biopsy and subtype review; selected imaging/laboratory tests, marrow only when indicated. |
| Multiple myeloma | Bone pain, anemia or kidney problems. | Protein studies, blood count, calcium/renal tests; selected marrow and imaging with hematology. |
Medical oncology plans systemic medicines; radiation oncology plans radiation; organ-specific surgeons assess surgery. Pathology and radiology help establish diagnosis and stage. A tumor board may combine these opinions when available and appropriate. Ask which named center and team will provide each service, including any referral elsewhere. Robotic surgery, radiotherapy techniques, transplantation and clinical trials require separate confirmation and individual eligibility.
Contact MPGCARE to confirm the hospital’s secure submission channel and translation requirements. Send dated pathology with addenda/biomarkers; imaging reports plus original DICOM files; and a chronological treatment summary. Include operations, drug names and doses, cycle dates, radiation dose/fractions, response and adverse effects, current medicines, allergies and the local physician’s contact. Obtain consent before sharing. Slides/blocks are sent only after the pathology unit confirms identification, packaging, delivery and return arrangements.
State your question: diagnosis, stage, treatment choice, progression or an adverse effect. After checking that records are sufficient, the receiving specialist reviews them and may request examination, slide review or additional tests. Confirm whether review is remote or in person, who issues the written opinion and how questions are answered. The opinion may agree with or change the proposed plan; it is not automatic acceptance for treatment. Do not interrupt current treatment while waiting—coordinate changes with both teams.
The team combines clinical findings, pathology and selected imaging to distinguish a new diagnosis, recurrence or metastatic disease. Tumor markers alone neither prove nor exclude cancer. Discuss whether the goal is cure, reducing recurrence risk, disease control or symptom relief. Chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, targeted medicines, immunotherapy, surgery or radiation are selected by tumor biology, stage, organ function, prior treatment and your preferences; no option guarantees benefit.
Request a case-specific scope after clinical review: consultations and second-opinion report; pathology review/biomarkers; planned laboratory and imaging tests; medicine names, doses and planned cycles; infusion and supportive medicines; radiation planning/fractions; surgery, anesthesia, admission and anticipated monitoring when relevant. It should distinguish included and separately arranged services, repeat tests, complications, unplanned admission, follow-up and travel/interpretation arrangements.
Initial record review may produce a provisional plan. Diagnostic confirmation and staging can change it; response and side effects can alter later cycles, procedures or stay requirements. Confirm the assumptions, proposed phase, reassessment points and how any change is documented before proceeding. A single visit or a fixed number of sessions cannot be promised. Preparation, fasting, bowel cleansing and medicine changes are provided only by the center as an individual written plan.
Agree who reviews results, manages side effects and provides an urgent contact. Before returning, obtain the treatment summary, prescriptions, next monitoring date and imaging comparison plan. Local follow-up requires a named clinician and a clear handover; some procedures or treatments require return to the receiving center. Ask about symptom control, nutrition, rehabilitation, psychological support and fertility preservation when relevant. Palliative care can accompany active treatment and does not mean care has stopped.
Fever during cancer treatment, severe breathlessness, confusion, major bleeding, uncontrolled vomiting or dehydration need prompt local assessment. New limb weakness or bladder/bowel control changes with severe back pain are emergencies. Follow your treating team’s specific warning plan; do not wait for travel or an online second opinion. Stable follow-up is planned after triage. Recovery, survival and lasting results cannot be guaranteed.
