Oral and Dental Health, Maxillofacial Surgery and Orthodontics in Türkiye | MPGCARE
MPGCARE coordinates assessment for oral and dental health, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and orthodontics at suitable Medical Park and Liv Hospital partner centers in Türkiye. Dentists and specialists evaluate oral health, chewing function, bite relationships and your priorities before proposing a treatment plan. The receiving center, clinician, procedure availability and appointment are confirmed individually.
This page brings together three connected fields: dental care to preserve and restore teeth; surgery for diseases of the mouth, jaw and face; and orthodontics to guide tooth position and bite. A clinical examination is essential. Photographs and existing radiographs may help initial review, but they do not establish suitability or replace an in-person diagnosis.
Conditions assessed across dental care, jaw surgery and orthodontics
The following conditions illustrate specialist assessment pathways. The appropriate procedure depends on findings, alternatives, medical history and informed consent; a listed condition does not mean surgery is necessary.
| Condition or concern | Assessment and possible procedures | Planning and follow-up |
|---|---|---|
| Dental caries | Examination, selected radiographs, prevention and fillings; deeper disease may require pulp treatment. | Preserve healthy tooth structure and reduce recurring decay. |
| Pulpitis and root canal infection | Pulp testing and imaging; root canal treatment or specialist retreatment when the tooth can be retained. | Restoration and reassessment determine longer-term tooth protection. |
| Dental abscess | Urgent dental assessment; drainage, root canal treatment or extraction as indicated. | Antibiotics are prescribed selectively and do not replace removal of the source. |
| Gingivitis and periodontitis | Gum examination, pocket measurements, professional cleaning and root-surface treatment. | Selected periodontal surgery and ongoing maintenance depend on response. |
| Missing teeth and extensive tooth loss | Compare implants, bridges, partial or complete dentures and implant-supported restorations. | Bone, gums, hygiene and medical risks guide the choice. |
| Tooth fractures, wear and sensitivity | Identify trauma, erosion, clenching or exposed dentine; consider bonding, fillings, onlays or crowns. | Address the cause as well as the visible damage. |
| Discoloration and aesthetic concerns | Assess enamel, gum health and existing restorations before whitening or selected veneers. | Discuss conservative options, sensitivity and irreversible tooth preparation. |
| Childhood decay and eruption concerns | Age-appropriate examination, prevention, fluoride or sealants and restorative care where suitable. | Pediatric dentistry and orthodontic assessment are coordinated when needed. |
| Impacted wisdom teeth and recurrent pericoronitis | Clinical examination and appropriate imaging; observation or removal according to disease and risk. | Discuss nerve injury, infection and dry socket; not every impacted tooth needs extraction. |
| Complex extractions and retained roots | Assess anatomy, infection and medications before simple or surgical removal. | A preservation option is considered when feasible. |
| Jaw cysts and benign tumors | Imaging and selected biopsy; removal or other treatment based on pathology. | Histological diagnosis and recurrence surveillance may be needed. |
| Persistent mouth ulcers, red or white patches | Examine lesions; refer for biopsy when indicated. | An ulcer lasting over three weeks, unexplained lump or persistent patch needs prompt review. |
| Oral and jaw malignancies | Specialist biopsy and staging with a multidisciplinary head-and-neck team. | Cancer treatment and reconstruction require a separate individualized hospital plan. |
| Jaw fractures and facial trauma | Urgent examination and imaging; selected reduction and fixation. | Assess bite, sensation, infection and recovery of function. |
| Temporomandibular joint disorders | Assess joint pain, locking and muscle-related symptoms; start with appropriate conservative care. | Splints, physiotherapy or selected procedures are considered individually; clicks alone do not establish a surgical indication. |
| Jaw asymmetry and skeletal bite discrepancies | Combined orthodontic and surgical assessment; selected corrective jaw surgery. | Dental compensation, growth stage and facial balance influence planning. |
| Insufficient bone for implant placement | Evaluate bone volume and nearby nerves or sinuses; selected grafting or sinus augmentation. | Additional healing stages and graft risks may change the timeline. |
| Salivary gland obstruction or swelling | Investigate stones, infection or masses; specialist procedures depend on the cause. | ENT or head-and-neck referral may be appropriate. |
| Medication-related or radiation-related jaw problems | Specialist evaluation of exposed bone, delayed healing and relevant treatment history. | Coordinate with the prescribing or oncology team before invasive dental care. |
| Crowding and rotated teeth | Orthodontic records and bite analysis; fixed braces or selected clear aligners. | Space creation, attachments or extractions may be required in some cases. |
| Spacing and gaps between teeth | Assess missing teeth, tooth size and gum health; orthodontic closure or restorative coordination. | Retention helps maintain the result. |
| Overbite, increased overjet and deep bite | Assess tooth relationships and growth; selected appliances or braces. | Severe skeletal discrepancies may need combined planning. |
| Underbite and crossbite | Differentiate dental from skeletal causes; assess growth and functional shifts. | Expansion, orthodontics or selected jaw surgery depends on the diagnosis. |
| Open bite | Assess dental and skeletal factors and oral habits. | Treatment and retention are tailored; relapse risk is discussed. |
| Impacted canine and eruption disturbance | Selected imaging and coordination between orthodontist and oral surgeon. | Observation, surgical exposure or orthodontic traction are possible options. |
| Orthodontic relapse | Review earlier treatment, retainers and current gum health. | Selected retreatment and a long-term retention plan may be needed. |
Oral and dental health: examination and treatment sequence
The dentist records symptoms, previous treatment, allergies, medicines, smoking and health conditions, examines teeth and gums, and selects radiographs only when useful. Panoramic imaging and cone-beam CT serve different questions; three-dimensional imaging is not automatically necessary for every patient. Urgent pain, infection and active gum disease are addressed before elective cosmetic, implant or orthodontic procedures.
Fillings, root canal treatment and saving the natural tooth
A filling restores a tooth after decay is removed. If the pulp is irreversibly damaged or infected, root canal treatment cleans and seals the internal canals, usually with local anesthesia. A final restoration, sometimes a crown, protects the tooth according to remaining structure. Persistent infection may require retreatment, selected root-end surgery or extraction. The clinician explains prognosis, alternatives, number of visits and the possibility that a tooth cannot be saved.
Gum treatment and prevention
Bleeding gums should be assessed rather than accepted as normal. Treatment may include hygiene coaching, cleaning above and below the gumline, control of smoking and diabetes-related risks, and selected surgery for persistent periodontal pockets. Advanced attachment or bone loss cannot always be reversed. Maintenance visits, interdental cleaning and appropriate fluoride care remain important after restorations, implants and orthodontics.
Dental implants: suitability, stages and realistic timing
An implant replaces a tooth root and supports a crown, bridge or denture. Assessment includes bone and gum condition, proximity to anatomical structures, growth completion and medical factors. Surgery, healing, impressions or scans, and the final prosthesis may require separate visits; grafting can add stages. Immediate placement or a temporary fixed restoration is appropriate only for selected patients. Same-day permanent teeth, lifelong durability and suitability for every patient cannot be promised. Smoking, uncontrolled disease and poor maintenance can increase failure or peri-implant disease risk.
Crowns, bridges, dentures and aesthetic dentistry
The plan compares tooth-supported and implant-supported options, material choices, cleaning requirements, tooth preparation and repairability. Temporary and final restorations are distinguished in the written quotation. Whitening changes natural tooth color but does not whiten existing crowns or fillings; sensitivity may occur. Veneers or crowns can require irreversible tooth reduction. A smile plan should follow oral-health assessment and preserve sound tissue whenever possible; photographs alone cannot determine the correct number of crowns.
Children and patients with dental anxiety
Pediatric care emphasizes prevention, protection of developing teeth and age-appropriate communication. Sedation or general anesthesia is considered only after assessment of necessity, medical suitability and the facility’s capabilities. Fasting, escort and discharge instructions differ from routine local-anesthetic visits. Remote consent, a photograph or a promised package does not substitute for examination or anesthesia assessment.
Oral and maxillofacial surgery: wisdom teeth and surgical extractions
The surgeon balances symptoms and disease against extraction risks using appropriate imaging. Impacted teeth without disease are not automatically removed. Local anesthesia, sedation or general anesthesia may be considered according to complexity and medical needs. Pain, swelling, bleeding, infection, dry socket and temporary or occasionally persistent altered sensation are discussed. If anatomy creates a particular risk, alternatives such as selected coronectomy may be considered by the surgeon.
Jaw cysts, oral lesions, tumors and reconstruction
Imaging cannot reliably determine every lesion’s nature; biopsy and pathology may be required. Management can range from surveillance to surgery, with preservation of teeth and vital structures when feasible. Suspicious oral cancer findings require timely multidisciplinary referral, rather than cosmetic treatment. Reconstruction after major disease or trauma is a separate specialist process. Do not wait for an overseas appointment if a lesion is progressing or urgent symptoms develop.
Jaw joint symptoms and corrective jaw surgery
Many joint and muscle symptoms are managed with education, habit modification and selected conservative treatment. Procedures such as arthrocentesis are reserved for appropriate indications. Orthognathic surgery repositions one or both jaws in selected skeletal bite problems; it differs from routine orthodontics or cosmetic tooth restorations. Joint surgical and orthodontic records, anesthesia review and a staged recovery plan are needed. Swelling, dietary restrictions, altered sensation, bleeding, infection, bite changes and further treatment are possible.
Orthodontics: braces, clear aligners and treatment choice
The orthodontist examines gum health, tooth positions, bite and jaw relationships and selects photographs, models or digital scans and radiographs. Metal or ceramic fixed braces and removable clear aligners suit different situations. Aligners require consistent wear and may need attachments, elastics, refinements or interproximal enamel reduction. They do not correct every skeletal problem and are not automatically quicker. Appliance selection, extraction decisions and duration are individualized.
Children, adolescents and adult orthodontics
Early assessment can identify growth, crossbite or eruption problems, but does not mean every child needs immediate braces. Growth-modifying or expansion treatment is considered for selected indications and stages. Adults can be assessed if teeth and supporting tissues are suitable; active gum disease must be controlled. Severe skeletal discrepancies may require orthodontics combined with jaw surgery. Previous implants, missing teeth and restorations affect movement and should be reviewed before treatment.
Orthodontic follow-up, risks and retainers
Treatment often extends over months or longer and needs repeated professional checks; it cannot usually be completed during one short holiday. Risks include enamel white spots, decay, gum problems, root shortening, discomfort and relapse. Brushing, interdental cleaning and attendance are essential. Retainers are required after active treatment according to the orthodontist’s plan. For international patients, responsibility for local reviews, broken appliances, replacement aligners and retention should be arranged before starting; remote contact does not replace clinical checks.
Medicines, medical conditions and procedure safety
Tell the team about anticoagulants, antiresorptive medicines such as bisphosphonates or denosumab, diabetes, pregnancy, heart conditions, allergies and previous head-and-neck radiotherapy. Do not stop prescribed medication yourself. The dentist and relevant physician decide whether dose timing, additional tests or other precautions are necessary. Antibiotics are not automatically required for all procedures. Individual risks and consent are discussed before treatment.
Recovery, emergency symptoms and when to seek help
Follow the clinician’s written advice about oral hygiene, diet, pain relief, smoking, bleeding control and review appointments. Seek urgent local care for breathing or swallowing difficulty, rapidly spreading facial or neck swelling, uncontrolled bleeding or serious trauma; contact emergency services when needed. Increasing pain, fever, new numbness or inability to open the mouth needs prompt assessment. Persistent ulcers beyond three weeks, a new unexplained lump or red/white patch should be examined without delay.
How many visits, what documents and what costs?
Send the reason for consultation, medical and medication history, available dental radiographs with dates, previous treatment details and relevant photographs. Initial review can suggest a pathway, while final decisions follow examination. The written plan should distinguish investigations, anesthesia, grafting, temporary and final restorations, appliance or aligner stages, pathology, maintenance and possible additional treatment. Ask about materials, clinician responsibilities and management of complications; no fixed duration or guaranteed result applies to all patients.
MPGCARE travel coordination and aftercare
MPGCARE helps coordinate clinician appointments, medical records and communication with the confirmed Medical Park or Liv Hospital partner center. Free airport–hospital transfer for patients arriving by air is organized with route, timing and accompanying-person arrangements confirmed in advance. Travel clearance after surgery, any extra visits and local follow-up are agreed with the treating team. Accommodation options and any costs outside the medical plan are clarified before travel.
