Little Lia Recovered from Scoliosis
14-year-old Lia LASURIDZE applied to MPGCARE Health Tourism Company with complaints of shoulder drooping and persistent back pain. She was referred to Medical Park Ordu Hospital. After examinations by Orthopedics and Traumatology Specialist Dr. Birol Gürler, she was diagnosed with scoliosis (spinal curvature). Following a consultation with her family, a 2.5-hour surgery was performed, and Lia LASURIDZE regained her health. After the successful operation carried out by Dr. Birol Gürler and Prof. Dr. Çetin Önder, she returned to her country pain-free.
The surgical team from the Department of Neurosurgery at Medical Park Ordu Hospital, Dr. Birol Gürler and Prof. Dr. Çetin Önder, gave the following information about the operation: “When our patient came to us, there was a visible curvature in her back. Since childhood, her curvature had progressed as she grew taller. She had been diagnosed with scoliosis both in her country and in other countries she visited, and it was stated that she needed surgery. Scoliosis surgery is extremely risky, cannot be performed in every center, and must be conducted by experienced teams. After completing the necessary examinations, we took our patient into surgery. The operation was very successful. During her postoperative follow-ups, there were no complications. One week later, we discharged our patient fully recovered, with her back curvature corrected.”
